Training Overview

Entry requirements

  • General Registration
  • Two (2) years postgraduate experience
  • Acceptance into a training position
  • Enrolment as a candidate with the College

Overview of training program

Five year program, conducted in two (2) phases:

  • Phase 1 – three (3) years general radiology training
  • Phase 2 – advanced radiology training:   two (2) years of systems-focused rotations

Rotations recommended prior to applying for training

Radiology Education and Training Committee encourages experience in a broad spectrum of clinical disciplines prior to undertaking radiology training.  This should include medicine, surgery, emergency and paediatrics if possible.

How to improve your chances of selection

  • Demonstrate interest in Radiology from early stage in career
  • Be keen, hard working and sensible
  • Consider an observership. This can be completed during annual leave or, occasionally, on weekends (possible in some private organisations).
  • Complete a project or research (liaise with Director of Training)
  • Attend facility radiology meetings.  At TPCH, these include (but are not limited to):
  • IMS/Geriatric meeting, Wednesday 2pm [1G tutorial room]
  • Respiratory meeting, Thursday 8.30am  [Education centre]
  • Surgical meeting, every fourth Wednesday 7.30am [1G tutorial room]
